WoW Summit Series is an ongoing Working on Wellness community outreach endeavor that offers a mobile holistic clinic experience, provides holistic and mental health awareness and substance abuse prevention education. The series presents natural health options to manage acute and chronic conditions, introduces the community to alternative methods of dis-ease and pain management, and incorporates aspects of SAMSHA’s Eight Dimensions of Wellness - all of which can help people live longer and improve quality of life. The Eight Dimensions of Wellness may also help people better manage their condition and experience recovery from substance use disorders.
Our Community Healing Garden at D-Town Farms is a neighborhood touchpoint for cultivating peace, hope and healing. It is a place where neighbors commune, fellowship and grow traditional herbs for person use ...it is the community's very own Herbal Farmacy. Through this work, we support and seek to partner with the Food Justice Task Force's Youth Food Media Project, Women in Agriculture, the Detroit Black Food Security Network and other Urban Farmers within the City of Detroit.
Urban Herbalists Externship offers local youth ages, 13-18, the opportunity to explore herbal medicine and to create their own herbal arsenal over a 10 week period. The youth also learn basic tenets of office administration and management, employability skills and how to best present themselvesfor future job opportunities.
